ABSTRACT: The impact of artificial intelligence (AI) in vocational training for IT and cybersecurity careers is pivotal for preparing students to meet the demands of the evolving digital landscape. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of AI-enhanced training programs, identify key competencies developed through these programs, and assess student readiness for IT and cybersecurity roles. A survey design was employed to collect data from students enrolled in AI-based vocational training programs. The sample size included 300 students from technical institutions specializing in IT and cybersecurity. Purposive sampling was used to select participants with a background in computer science and a keen interest in AI. The case study was conducted at the University of Lagos, Lagos State, Nigeria. Findings indicated that AI integration in vocational training significantly improved students' technical skills, enhanced their problem-solving capabilities, and prepared them effectively for cybersecurity challenges. Students reported high levels of satisfaction with the AI-enhanced training, noting the practical applications and real-world relevance of the skills acquired. It was recommended that vocational training institutions expand their AI curricula and collaborate with industry partners to ensure training programs align with current technological advancements and industry requirements.
